I’d like to share with you the results of ABC 7.30 News Report, where they did a study which looked at the average “net worth of home owners 65 years or over”
Study found that the home owners 65 years or over had an average net worth of $960,000 compared to those that rented of only $ 40,800!
And those that “did not own a home and rented all their lives”
The findings were quite shocking!

So, if you don’t want to be part of the second group ( renters ) when you’re 65, I guess you’d better do something about it….
Taking the small-step to at least inform yourself of what is possible is a huge-step in the right direction.
Most Brokers and Lenders will have you believe that you need to keep saving until you have at least 15%-20% Deposit
That’s roughly $80,000 – $100,000.
Which is not necessarily wrong…
However I just don’t know how realistic that is?
Even if you could save say $ 200 per week…that’s only $ 10,000 per year
At that pace it would take you 8 to 10 years to save 80 – 100K
…but that’s based on today’s price of homes…
We can only speculate what they will be in 10 years?
…if we look at the past 10 years…. they’ve more than double in price in most of Melbourne and metro areas.
Which means even if you saved like crazy for the next 10 years….you would probably still come up short!
That’s why you need to look at alternative ways to get your foot in the door!
